Welcome to the backyard. This is a little piece of distraction inside the site, with some simple purposes:
First, to say thanks: This goes to Yoshino Sensei and Beth Webster, for lending us the machines used. Thanks a lot! To Atsuko chan, our cartoonist, for the great drawings. Arigatou! To Philipp Huy, for writing most of the text, for letting me tweak it all without letting him know first, and for doing most of the hard work, allowing me to concentrate on nothing else. Gracias man!
There's also some people that helped on this indirectly, but they're just too many to put in here. We don't wan't browsers from a Redmond based company crashing without explanation ...
Second, to promote the GNU project software using buttons, because tradition says to do so:
Third, to spread the word about some noble cases: 1 - Burn all your GIFs. Unisys holds a patent over the compression algorithm zzz, usually used in GIFs. They're charging 5K dollars per site using their patented code, in hope of recovering from the abyss they're now. Switch to PNG, which is a much better format, free of any restrictions. By the way, if you don't see most of the images in this site, you have a browser too old or too brain dead that doesn't see PNGs. 2 - Let's say NO to Internet Explorer or any other browser propietary tags. Let's make the web a better place, following the standards. Not only the web benefits from standads, the whole Internet does.
